A look at free Windows POP3 mail clients

I am in the process of looking for a free (beer) Windows POP3 mail client. Poking around, here is what I found:
  • Mozilla Thunderbird
  • Eudora, but the Wikipedia claims Eudora is moving to using Thunderbird
  • Pegasus Mail has been around for a while; no source code
  • Opera includes an email client
  • There is a fork of Firefox called “Seamonkey” that includes a POP3 email client
  • gpg4win is a port of the Linux Balsa email client for Windows (also includes GPG for signing and encrypting email)
  • Mulberry is another email client
  • For people who want the old-school UNIX feel, there is Pine which is now called “Alpine” and, yes, there is a full Windows port
